CACREP AccreditationThe Rollins Graduate Studies in Counseling Program offers an interactive, experiential curriculum that meets the highest and near recent CACREP accreditation and land licensure standards. Belatedly afternoon and early on evening classes, structured for 12 to 15 students, provide individualized instruction. In accord with the requirements for licensure as a mental health counselor in the state of Florida, the program requires completion of a 63-semester-hour curriculum which may be completed on a full-time 3-year track, a four-year part-time track, or a 5-twelvemonth office-time track (with department blessing).

The programme is a lock-footstep curriculum, meaning all students on the full-time rails take the aforementioned courses during the same semester as their peers. This model fosters close and back up peer relationships and ongoing shared learning experiences. The Rollins curriculum infuses multi-cultural counselor educational activity in every course. In addition to your practicum and internship during your last year, y'all'll participate in 100 hours of non-clinical service activities at a mental wellness agency and engage in 100 hours of social justice advocacy to promote social change.

Currently enrolled degree-seeking students of the Rollins Graduate Studies in Counseling Programme are also eligible to apply for admission to the Certificate Program in Family and Relationship Therapy or the Certificate Program in College and University Counseling.

Certificate Program in Family and Human relationship Therapy

The Certificate Program in Family and Relationship Therapy is designed to provide specialized training and supervision for mental wellness counseling students and graduates who are interested in gaining further knowledge and skills in working with families and couples from a systemic perspective. The plan requirements also prepare document holders with the coursework and pre-caste internship experience required for licensure in marriage and family therapy as defined by the Florida Department of Health's Board of Clinical Social Work, Matrimony and Family Therapy, and Mental Wellness Counseling (491 Board).

The Document Plan in Family and Relationship Therapy tin be completed concurrently with the master's caste plan and requires students to complete twenty semester hours of credit. These include 10 hours of cadre courses in family and relationship therapy and 10 hours of internship at a site that offers the opportunity to counsel families and couples from a human relationship or systemic perspective every bit described by Florida Statute 491 and Florida Administrative Code 64B4.

Dr. Sanabria completed his doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision at the Academy of Florida with an emphasis in sexuality and diversity issues. He has extensive experience counseling couples, families, adults, and adolescents regarding sexual and gender identity concerns. His research interests include ethical practices in counseling, moral psychology, human being sexuality, and neuroscience.

Caitlyn McKinzie Bennett, PhD

Dr. Bennett's clinical specialty focuses on feet, stress, family of origin problems, sexuality, and LGBTGEQIAP+ experiences for adolescents, young adults, and couples. She too integrates a holistic approach to counseling to help clients increase awareness and coping related to the intersection of physical and mental health. Dr. Bennett's research agenda has focused on neuroinformed counseling approaches (i.eastward., neurofeedback preparation) to mitigate experiences of anxiety, stress, and depression. Her scholarship also focuses on utilizing evidenced-based counseling practices (i.e., acceptance and commitment therapy).

Kathryn Fifty. Norsworthy, Ph.D.
Professor of Counseling
B.S., Georgia Southwestern College; Ph.D., Academy of Minnesota; Post-Doctoral respecialization, University of Georgia; Licensed Psychologist, National Certified Advisor.
Dr. Norsworthy's clinical specialties include trauma therapy, health/wellness counseling, and family and relationship therapy. Additional areas of research and practice are social justice and transnational feminist applications in international counseling; social change, and peace edifice in South and Southeast Asia; mindfulness in counseling and counselor education; and LGBTQ+ affirmative counseling and civil rights activism.

Derrick A. Paladino, Ph.D.
Professor of Counseling

Licensed Mental Health Counselor, National Certified Counselor.
Throughout his training, Dr. Paladino gained experience in crisis and emergency services, higher counseling, addictions, and has worked in community/bureau settings with adolescents and adults. His clinical specialties are in crunch/suicide assessment and intervention, higher student development, and multiracial identity. Research interests autumn in the areas of the multiple heritage population and college pupil adjustment.

Leigh de Armas DeLorenzi, Ph.D.

Dr. DeLorenzi has a clinical specialty in the treatment of trauma, and has spent her career counseling children, adults, families, couples, and groups. She serves as a consulting psychotherapist at The Centre for Medico Wellbeing where she focuses on program development and exhaustion prevention for physicians and mental health professionals. Her electric current inquiry seeks to examine the the touch on of wellbeing initiatives within the medical and mental wellness training environments. Dr. DeLorenzi'south scholarship also focuses on standards of professional conduct and gatekeeping practices across the mental health professions.

Kyle D. Baldwin, Ed.D.

Dr. Baldwin's clinical experience includes working in private practice, community mental health agencies, and school settings.  Her clinical interests include Mood and Anxiety Disorders, Career Counseling, and Couples Counseling. Additional areas of involvement include Counselor Wellness and Counselor Educational activity and Supervision. Dr. Baldwin graduated from the Graduate Studies in Counseling program in 2002.

Michelle Rivera-Clonch, Ph.D.

Dr. Rivera-Clonch comes to Rollins from Antioch Higher in Xanthous Springs, OH where she was Assistant Professor of Psychology. Her research interests include anti-psychological colonization practices, women's grassroots leadership preparation models, and peace and conflict resolution praxes.  As a practitioner, she worked in Central Florida community agencies, served every bit Assistant Director of Rollins CAPS, and maintained a minor individual practise.

Judy Galloway, Ed.D.

Dr. Galloway has been teaching at Rollins intermittently since 2002. She has taught a range of courses, including Psychopathology, Practicum, Theories of Personality, Human being Growth and Evolution, Community Counseling and Crisis Intervention, and Dynamics of Wedlock, Relationship, and Family Systems.  Her special professional interests include couples therapy, adolescents, grief, higher counseling, personality disorders, and teaching.

Anthony J. Schefstad, Ph.D.

Dr. Schefstad has been an adjunct faculty member for Rollins College since 2000. He has provided direct clinical services and administration for not-for-profit community-based programs in addictions, mental health, foster care, employee assistance, homelessness, and trauma since 1984. He teaches Addictive Disorders, Group Dynamics and Procedure, and Practicum and Internship. Dr. Schefstad is in private practice in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

Tiffany Schiffner, Ph.D.

Dr. Tiffany Schiffner has been an adjunct kinesthesia member for Rollins since 2012. Clinically, Dr. Schiffner is a generalist and her interest areas include clinical grooming and supervision, multicultural counseling, Latina/o mental health in counseling, complementary and culling medicine in psychology, and clinical hypnosis. She has worked at several settings such as academia, counseling centers, and individual practice.

Dr. Valorie Thomas has been a supporting kinesthesia member for Rollins since 2001. She gained her clinical experience in managed mental wellness care where she utilized solution-focused brief therapy emphasizing client strengths. Her interests include counselor pedagogy and supervision, legal, upstanding, and all-time exercise issues in counseling, group work, and infertility and early pregnancy loss. She has co-authored Sexuality Counseling: An Integrative Approach.
